CSUMentor Features

CSUMentor can serve as a valuable tool in choosing a CSU campus, planning to meet admission requirements, and getting answers to frequently asked questions. CSUMentor is designed to be useful throughout the admission process, from the time you begin your research in middle school, high school, or after to the time you're ready to apply to your school of choice.


Explore CSU Campuses

This section of CSUMentor allows you to view information and statistics about each of the CSU campuses.

  • The Matching Assistant allows you to enter the features you seek in a CSU campus. Once you have entered your requirements, CSUMentor will display all CSU campuses that meet your requirements.
  • The Comparative View helps decide which CSU campus best meets your needs by allowing you to see a comparison of campuses. There are a number of criteria available to compare colleges.
  • The Campus Facts provide statistical data, photos of the campuses, and other useful information. Some include video clips.
  • The Distance Search module allows you to search for CSU campuses near a specific zip code.
  • The CSUMentor Search is a search engine specific to CSUMentor. It will search only websites of CSUMentor and CSU campuses. You may even limit the search to only the campuses in which you are interested.
  • The Frequently Asked Questions - University Selection section answers the most commonly asked questions about specific CSU campuses.
  • The College Recruiter allows you to create and edit your academic profile, including your background and your schools of interest. Once you've filled out your profile, you can release it to the campuses for recruitment purposes through CSUMentor.

    Plan for College

    This section is divided into areas of interest for students at particular times in their education: middle school, high school, college, postbaccalaureate, and graduate, and a section for international students. This area also provides information on teaching credential opportunities in California.

  • The Middle School Students section provides assistance for 6th-8th grade students.
  • The High School Students section provides assistance for 9th-12th grade students.
  • The Transfer Students section provides assistance for CCC students.
  • The Graduate Students section provides assistance for graduate students.
  • The International Students section provides assistance for international students.
  • The EOP section provides information on the Educational Opportunity Program for economically disadvantaged students.
  • The Teaching Credential section provides information on acquiring a teaching credential in California.

    Apply Online

  • The Application Filing Status Report section allows you to find out which CSU campuses are currently accepting applications.
  • The Undergraduate Admission Applications allows undergraduate applicants to submit applications electronically to the campus or campuses of their choice. Students applying for a second bachelor's degree should use the undergraduate admission application.
  • The Graduate Admission Applications allows postbaccalaureate/graduate applicants to submit applications electronically to the campus or campuses of their choice.
  • The FAFSA on the Web allows students to transfer information from the CSUMentor website directly to the FAFSA-on-the-Web application.
  • CalStateTEACH allows students to earn a multiple-subject credential online. It is designed around a set of activities and organized study that recognizes the importance of the school site as a significant teacher preparation environment.
  • The International Application allows international students to submit a unique admission application.

    Financial Aid

  • The Financial Aid Overview provides financial aid information and helps you plan for college costs. It describes the different types of aid available to students and parents and helps explain the entire financial aid process.
  • The PAIS module provides an estimate of a student's financial aid eligibility and estimated award amount.
  • The FAFSA on the Web allows students to transfer information from the CSUMentor website directly to the FAFSA-on-the-Web application.
  • The Frequently Asked Questions - Financial Aid section answers the questions most commonly asked by students about financial aid.
  • The Tuition Savings Program section teaches you how to save money to pay for college education.
  • The SLOPE Calculator determines the interest and monthly payments for your student loans based on your potential career choice.
